About the Parish

The Parish of Stratton St Margaret has a population of 21,760 (as at 30.4.02), a total electorate of 17,015 (as at 26.1.04) living in 9225 houses.  The Parish is made up of four wards, St Philips, St Margaret, Coleview, Lower Coleview and Nythe.

The Parish of Stratton St  Maragaret although once rural with the expansion of Swindon is now an urban parish.  However it has retained pockets of community spirit as many residents have lived within Stratton for most of their lives.

The Parish Council gives high priority to open space to encourage children to have safe play areas with well maintained equipment which is checked on a daily basis (Monday  - Friday).  The Parish Council is very keen to retain Open Spaces where adults and children can enjoy the peace and tranquility as would have been experienced in years past when it was more rural.

The Parish Council appreciates that with the urbanisation dog walking is more restricted and therefore to enable all users to take advantage of the recreation and open spaces dog bins are provided and all dog walkers are requested to use this facility.
