To serve the Parish the Council can have up to 23 elected Councillors however this currently stands at 13 elected members and 9 co-opted members. The Parish Council welcomes interest from residents who may be interested in standing for co-option to the Council. Details of the responsibilities of a member are available from the Clerk of the Council.
All Parish Councillors are voluntary, serve for a period of 4 years and receive a nominal renumeration payment, details of which are available on our "published documents" section.
The full Council meets bimonthly normally on the last Tuesday of the month. To work effectively the Parish Council is divided into 6 main committees who meet on a regular basis.
Agendas are posted on Parish Council notice boards, in public libraries, on the council website and circulated to the press, 5 days prior to the meeting.

The Parish Council employs a team equivalent to 40 full time staff, which includes the Stratton Community Leisure Centre, headed by the Clerk of the Council, to implement its policies.
The Parish is served by one Principal Council, Swindon Borough Council. This Unitary Authority, undertakes the responsibility of providing its statutory duties eg. Education, Libraries, Social Services, Planning and Highways maintenance etc.
