The Parish Council has set the following Corporate Objectives to ensure that they meet their overall Vision Statement and Aims.
- In this election year the Council will strive to achieve 80% electoral mandate so that it may meet a further criteria towards achieving the Quality Council Status. The Clerk and Deputy Clerk are working towards their Certificate in Local Council Administration another requirement of achieving the Quality Council Status.
- The Council will reivew its Standing Order, Financial Regulations and Committee Structure to ensure that the high standards are maintained in the administration of the Council by members and staff.
- The Horticultural and Craft Show which has seen numbers falling is being given a high priority in the hope that we can engage with the community and achieve additional numbers at the show this year.
- The Council will be working in partnership with the Police to try and address issues relevant to the local community. The Neighbourhood Policing teams which consists of a Community Police Officer and two Community Support Officers will carry out a consultation through an open meeting to identify areas of concern. These will then be discussed by the Priority Setting Panel where 3 priorities will be set. The Priority Setting Panel will consist of the police, parish councillors, ward councillors, crime and prevention and any other relevant agencies. The Target Panel which will consist of the relevant agencies will then work together to target these specific priorities over an 8 week period.
- The Council is funding the provision of two youth projects for 10-13 year olds within the parish which are being run by Swindon Borough Council Youth Service. Through this project a youth council will be formed with the aim of instilling in young people an ownership of the community by providing them with a forum to discuss the provision of facilities and amenities within the parish.
- To continue to improve the health and social well being of the residents of Stratton St Margaret through partnership working with Swindon Borough Council and the Swindon Primary Care Trust with the GP Referral Scheme and Cardiac Rehab Phase 4 at Stratton Community Leisure Centre
- To provide youth facilities within the Parish through a rollling programme to continuously improve the provision of play equipment and recreational facilities for young people. The Council continues to work in partnership with Stratton Junior Football club on the improvement of provision at Dorcan Recreation Area.
- The Council will still pursue the lifting of the covenant at Dorcan Recreation Area through the Lands Tribunal, whilst still tyring to negotiate a voluntary easement of the covenant with Swindon Borough Council. The covenenant restricts the Parish Council from providiing new and replacement play equipment on the Dorcan Recreation Area.
