Our Council is one of the statutory Town and Parish Best Value Councils, known as the E41 group of councils.
Statutory Best Value councils were those councils who had a budgeted income of over £500,000 for the three years prior to 2000. The purpose of Best Value is to ensure the Council continuously strives for improvement and delivers services in the most economic, effective and efficient way possible.
We want to make sure that our residents get the best possible service that we can provide. To support this we are required to carry out fundamental Best Value Reviews of our services.
Reviews must consider the 4Cs of Best Value:
Challenge why and how a service is being provided.
Compare performance with others to see where improvements could be made.
Consult local taxpayers, service users, partners, staff and the wider business community in the setting of new performance targets.
Compete, wherever practicable, both fairly and openly to provide the best services.
After each review a report is produced with detailed findings and an action plan for continuous improvement over the next 5 years.
These are included in the Best Value Plan which is published by the 30th June each year.
