Merton Fields, Millennium Green, Upper Stratton
MERTON FIELDS
A 6½ acre grassed area which has had extensive regeneration in partnership with the countryside Agency with lottery funding. This area also celebrates the Millennuim and includes sculptures of the "Life Cycle of a Butterfly" designed by the children of Beechcroft Infants School.
This area has also benefited from extensive planting of wildflowers in partnership with "The Haven" and local primary schools. In partnership with the Community Forest and local community groups, this area now benefits from a small copse of semi-mature trees.
This conservative area also has space for ball games including basket ball. Litter bins and seats are also provided.
Dog walking is allowed on this area provided dog owners remove any faeces and deposit in the dog bins provided.
The first picture is of an area of open land which has been cultivated and planted to grow into a wildflower meadow. The following two pictures are of hedging which has already benefited from extensive wildflower planting.
The pictures below are close up shots of some of the wildlfowers at Merton Fields.
